Wrigley Building, Chicago River

Well, it has been a long time since I have a real update -- mostly because there isn't much to update. I am currently temping at the Wrigley Company (yes, gum - I chew approximately 43 pieces a day now) and working in this lovely building (the wrigley building)...yeah, exciting, I know! It's a pretty easy job, but I like the people I work with and enjoy getting into the city each day. (Especially since the train goes right by the chocolate factory each day...so my mornings smell yummy!!) Chocolate, gum, what more could I want? It's nice to have a routine again, although getting up at 6 each morning is a little tough after living in the lap of luxury for the past 5 months.
In other news/plans, I'll be moving into the city after the holidays (why move out during them? I figure if there is any time to be with your family it's then!) and am still working on finding a "real" job in Chicago (and figuring out what I want to be when I grow up!)

Man, this is a boring entry...time to head back out travelling! Anyone want to go to Eastern Europe/South America/Australia/New Zealand anytime soon?

How much would I love to not have to have a seperate "going out" winter coat from my regular winter coat...not all of us can afford to dryclean every week. Soooo...sign up to support the Chicago smoking ban! We may be slower than New York, LA, SF, Dallas, Lawrence, Anchorage, Tempe, Fayetteville, all of Connecticut, Delaware (look, we're in Delaware...), Florida, Honolulu, Bloomington, ITALY, Lexington, Maine, ...you get the picture...but we'll get there sometime!

$1 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts

I don't normally go for the whole "we'll give $1 for every person that XYZ's"*** and then the ***is some amount that you know they are going to reach anyway, but I saw this one and they are only 1/5 of the way so it seems worth your 20 seconds. (Although they are only showing 6 degrees down, so they probably already have their $10,000)

And this way I don't have to e-mail you about it.

Ok, go signup!

Let me know if you have any ?'s! You are smart kiddies, you can figure out how you would like to view them...

Congrats James and Gina!

Beautiful Bride

Well, I thought this blog would be just for the trip to Europe, but I thought maybe I would continue to post some major events, just for my own sake now and then. Last weekend (my goodness how the time flies -- it has been almost 2 weeks since I got back from europe) I went to James and Gina's wedding which was absolutely perfect! They are a couple that you know will have one heck of a life, and I was glad to be there to see the official start of it...at least now when I need a favor from one of them when I am 50, I can prove that they do know me! Anyhoo, I took very few pics, but here is one of the gorgeous bride! (and diane!)

Home sweet home!

My planned route through europe
Originally uploaded by laurenh.

I'm back! What an amazing trip...I am so glad I had the chance to take it and to see all the wonderful things I saw. The last few days of my trip were spent in Florence (with a side trip to Siena) and then to Rome. Rome was a great time ending with a ridiculous yet fun pub crawl (I never thought I would pay to go on one of those organized things in my life) and an early morning for my trip home! I plan to have all my pictures up soon, so come back in a few days for those. Thank you so much to everyone who read along...I dont know if I will keep blogging but perhaps my adventures in finding unemployment might be as interesting as my trip...yeah, I doubt it too!
